Terms & conditions

Version: 12 October 2026

These terms apply to all Dutch lessons given by Eva Hageman. They are sent with the invoice; by paying the invoice, you agree to them.

1. Definitions and applicability

1.1 These terms apply to all lessons, packages and series offered by Eva Hageman, sole proprietor, Chemin du Corgeon 15, 1095 Lutry, Switzerland ("the teacher").

1.2 "Student" means the person who books the lessons. For a group, this is the contact person who books and pays on behalf of the group. For a child under 18, it is the parent or legal guardian.

1.3 "Package" means a set of 4 or 8 lessons paid in advance. "Series" means a set of literature and poetry sessions with a group, of which the number of sessions and the price are agreed in advance.

1.4 Deviations from these terms only apply if agreed in writing (email is fine).

2. The agreement

2.1 The agreement is formed when the student pays the invoice. By paying, the student agrees to these terms, which are sent beforehand.

2.2 The introductory chat is free and carries no obligation.

3. The lessons

3.1 Lessons are given online via Google Meet. Language lessons last 50 minutes; literature and poetry sessions last 60 minutes.

3.2 Lessons are scheduled by email or through the teacher's online calendar.

3.3 The student makes sure they have a working internet connection, a laptop or tablet, headphones and a quiet place. If a lesson cannot go ahead because of a technical problem on the student's side, it counts as given. If a lesson is cut short by a technical problem on the teacher's side, the remaining time is made up.

3.4 If the student is late, the lesson still ends at the agreed time.

3.5 Lessons are only recorded if both the teacher and the student agree beforehand.

3.6 A group (2–4 people) appoints one contact person who arranges scheduling and payment. Group lessons go ahead if one or more members cannot attend.

4. Prices and payment

4.1 Prices are listed on evahageman.com and are in euros, unless payment in Swiss francs has been agreed. No VAT is charged: the teacher is not registered for VAT. The price that applies is the one on the invoice.

4.2 Lessons, packages and series are paid in advance. The invoice must be paid before the first lesson.

4.3 Payment is made by bank transfer to the account on the invoice. Any bank charges for international transfers are paid by the student.

4.4 For a group, one person pays the full amount for the whole group.

4.5 If the invoice has not been paid before the first lesson, the teacher may postpone the lesson until payment is received.

4.6 The teacher may change prices. Changes never apply to packages or series that have already been paid.

5. Cancelling and rescheduling

5.1 The student can cancel or reschedule a lesson free of charge up to 48 hours before it starts, by email. For a group, this is done by the contact person.

5.2 Lessons cancelled less than 48 hours in advance, or missed without notice, are charged in full and count as used.

5.3 Group lessons go ahead as planned. A member who cannot attend is not refunded and the lesson counts as used.

5.4 If the teacher has to cancel a lesson, a new time is agreed and the lesson stays in the student's package.

6. Validity and transfer

6.1 A package of 4 lessons is valid for 3 months, a package of 8 lessons for 6 months, counted from the date of payment.

6.2 The teacher sends a reminder before a package expires. Lessons not used within the validity period expire without refund.

6.3 Unused lessons from a language-lesson package may be transferred to another person, after notice to the teacher. The validity period stays the same.

6.4 Literature and poetry series are not transferable, as they depend on a group reading together. If a series cannot start because there are too few participants, all payments are refunded in full.

7. Right of withdrawal

7.1 A student who is a consumer may withdraw from the agreement within 14 days of the day it was formed, without giving a reason.

7.2 To withdraw, the student informs the teacher by email before the 14 days have passed. The model withdrawal form at the end of these terms may be used, but is not required.

7.3 If the student explicitly asked, by email, for lessons to start within the 14 days, the student pays for the lessons already given, in proportion to the total price.

7.4 The teacher refunds the remaining amount within 14 days of receiving the withdrawal, using the same payment method.

8. Refunds

8.1 After the withdrawal period, payments are non-refundable. Unused language lessons can be transferred as described in 6.3.

8.2 If the teacher is unable to give the paid lessons, for example because she stops teaching or due to long-term illness, the student is refunded for the lessons not given.

8.3 The teacher may end the agreement in case of inappropriate behaviour. Lessons not yet given are then refunded.

9. Liability

9.1 The teacher teaches to the best of her ability, but cannot guarantee a particular result, such as passing an exam.

9.2 The teacher's liability is limited to the amount paid for the package or series concerned, except in cases of intent or gross negligence.

10. Lesson materials

10.1 Lesson materials provided by the teacher are for the student's personal use only and may not be shared or sold.

11. Privacy

11.1 The teacher handles personal details with care. How this is done is described in the privacy statement.

12. Children

12.1 For a student under 18, the agreement is made with a parent or legal guardian, who also receives all communication about scheduling and payment.

12.2 For children under 12, a parent or guardian stays within reach during online lessons.

13. Complaints

13.1 Complaints can be sent by email. The teacher responds within 14 days and aims to find a solution together.

14. Changes and applicable law

14.1 The teacher may update these terms. Changes do not apply to agreements already made.

14.2 Swiss law applies to these terms and all agreements, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules in the student's country of residence.

14.3 Disputes are submitted to the competent courts at the teacher's place of residence, unless mandatory law gives the student the right to go to court in their own country.
